About Ablevate
Making invisible barriers visible
We believe skill — not circumstance — should decide who gets the chance to work.
Our mission
Ablevate exists because qualified people are being filtered out of the workforce before anyone reads their resume — not because they lack skills, but because hiring systems are full of requirements that were never designed to screen for skill.
The problem
Structural barriers, hidden in plain sight
Hiring is full of structural barriers — degree inflation, credential requirements, employment-gap penalties, arbitrary experience thresholds. These barriers are invisible to the people they exclude and rarely intentional on the part of the organizations using them. They’re simply the defaults nobody stopped to question.
Degree inflation
Roles that never required a degree quietly start demanding one — screening out capable people for a credential the work doesn’t need.
Credential requirements
Certifications and licenses used as a default filter, even when on-the-job skill would do the same work just as well.
Employment-gap penalties
Applicants are discarded for time away — caregiving, illness, incarceration, a slow market — regardless of what they can do today.
Arbitrary experience thresholds
“Five years required” for work that can be learned in months, ruling out people who would excel given the chance.
The solution
We work on both sides of the hiring relationship
Ablevate works on both sides of the hiring relationship. We audit organizational job descriptions using the BarrierRupt Hiring Audit — a structured framework that identifies and removes arbitrary requirements. We also build skills-based profiles for job seekers, so they can be evaluated on what they can actually do.
We fix the job description
Working role by role, we strip out requirements that don’t predict performance — so the posting describes the job, not a wish list. Organizations approve every change.
We surface the skills
Job seekers build a profile around what they can do, not where they’ve been — so capable people stop being filtered out before anyone gives them a look.
Founding story
It started with one rejection nobody could explain
The person rejected understood hiring better than most. He had spent years on the other side of the process — evaluating talent himself.
That contradiction stuck with Koushik. If someone could understand the system, have the ability, and still be screened out, the problem might not be the candidate.
It might be the way organizations decide who gets a chance.
That question eventually became Ablevate: infrastructure designed to help organizations recognize ability that conventional hiring signals can miss.
Our core framework
The BarrierRupt Hiring Audit
A one-page framework that asks organizations five core questions before posting any role. At its heart are three that change how a job description gets written:
- 1Are the requirements genuinely necessary to do this job?
- 2Would this requirement exclude qualified candidates for reasons unrelated to job performance?
- 3Is this requirement a proxy for something else we could measure directly?
This audit is the core IP of Ablevate and the foundation of every partner relationship. It’s how we turn a vague posting into an honest description of the work — and open the door to candidates who can actually do it.
